My name is Camille and I can't watch and sew at the same time.

I won some fabric! Riel over at The Q and the U drew my name! I'm so excited! I never win anything. I hope that by the next giveaway I will be able to participate. I love the idea of getting new readers and giving away goodies. I'd love to get into a few swaps but they are a great mystery to me as to where they get organized.

I finished the quilt top I was working on. It took one a half nap times to get it all done. While sewing I set up Netflix on my iphone. It sits directly behind my machine and I plug it into the docking thing and listen. I'm a HUGE Dr. Who and Torchwood fan. I was watching the final specials for Torchwood and wasn't paying attention to my layout as I was sewing. It wasn't until I got the whole damn thing done that I noticed this.

Well crap

And yes, that is my son scratching his head at my giant blunder. I've decided to take apart the first 2 rows and make them match the rest and go for a more zig zag feel. I figure once I quilt the zig zags it will look even better. I'm thinking about 4 lines in the white part and maybe a little square inside the prints.

This is going to be the fabric selection for my son's kaleidoscope quilt. I got most of the prints on sale from The Fabric Quarter. I figure what I would pay for a fat quarter at my local quilt shop is what a half yard cost so I was sold. I'm thinking a couple more pieces should do it. I'm thinking a very light gray for the solid instead of white. White + little boys = heartbreak.

I keep eyeballing all these vintage sheets and decided I wanted to do that. I went to a few yard sales and even an estate sale and couldn't find much in the line of sheets. At the estate sale there were moomoos galore! I decided to cut those up and add them in with some vintage sheets and badabing bada boom! I haven't decided on a pattern just yet, but I think I will try my hand at a tutorial for cutting them to pieces. At least if I try it gives the illusion I know what I'm talking about.

  1. I actually think your "blunder" on the zig zag quilt is kinda awesome :) It looks intentional to me!

  2. I agree with Caitlin! Just call it a "design element" and keep on sewing! Looks cool- with a designer touch!
